Meet Mac Daniel
Welcome to my web page! As the Broker and owner of Amelia Island Realty, which has just celebrated its 6th anniversary, I am pleased to present you with this brief biography about myself.
As a third-generation native of Amelia Island, I graduated from Valdosta State University, Valdosta, Georgia in 1983 with a BBA degree in Accounting, and with a minor in Spanish.
My Spanish minor included an extended studies abroad program in Segovia, Spain, through the University of Georgia. I enjoy speaking fluent Spanish, and have traveled to Mexico, Nicaragua and South America several times.
Upon returning to Amelia Island, I entered the Accounting field with a position at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, in Jacksonville. After obtaining a Salespersons real estate license and working in real estate sales on Amelia Island, I resigned from Blue Cross and Blue Shield in 1983 to go into real estate, and have been full-time in real estate sales ever since, which has now been 19 years.
I first experienced the real estate market as the Broker of Florida Properties at the Amelia Surf and Racquet Club, an oceanfront condominium community besides the Ritz Carlton-Amelia Island, for approximately ten years. There, I utilized my Accounting and Real Estate skills to market 156 onsite condos for absentee sellers located all over the United States.
I also specialize in Amelia Island condominium sales, so please see my website www.ameliaislandcondos.com for more information.
My accounting education has given me experience and knowledge about the many federal tax aspects of real estate transactions, such as basis calculations, depreciation write-offs, deduction allowances, and Section 1031 Tax-Deferred Exchanges.
I have coordinated many of these Exchanges between the parties to a real estate purchase agreement, with the approval of the parties’ Certified Public Accountant, and the Qualified Intermediary for the Exchange. In 1996, I founded Mac Daniel Real Estate Company, and have continued to focus, study and improve upon my specialty in the Amelia Island market.
Hobbies & Interests
Ballroom Dancing: I have achieved the Silver level after six years of participating in many competitions.Boating & Offshore Fishing: I just completed Sea Captains School, a U. S. Coast Guard-approved course, to expand my knowledge of boating and seamanship.
Flounder Gigging: I own the website www.floundergigging.com, and am in the process of developing a national charter fishing franchise with the ability to make reservations and payments on-line. Flounder Gigging, an adventuresome night-time activity, is a great source of family fun. One can be quite successful in harvesting flounder when the correct techniques are applied.

My 1974, 23' Penn Yan boat (The Barnacle), has a hard top, Global Positioning Satellite receiver, air tank holders and is set up for comfortably spending all day diving over off-shore locations.
